Learn Chinese

Standard Mandarin Chinese is the Chinese language taught at the DJ Culture & Language Center. Mandarin Chinese is not only the official Chinese of mainland China, but also used in Taiwan, Singapore, and most of the Chinese communities around the world.

The Learn Mandarin Chinese program is a collection of Chinese courses designed for students who reside in Spain and are interested in learning Chinese. A student can choose to learn Chinese in Spain, or take an intensive Chinese course in China. Each learning scheme consists of several courses for students to choose from. A program-at-a-glance is provided below, followed by descriptions for individual courses.

1. Learn Mandarin Chinese in Spain

1.1. Basic Chinese

This course is to introduce the basic and most important features of the Chinese language to students who start as beginner. Teaching emphasis is on pronunciation, model phrase building, and oral communication. Construction principles of the Chinese character and standard structure of sentences are supplementary.

At the completion of the course, students are able to have simple conversations with native Chinese speakers, understand street signs and simple labels, and read and write short notes.

1.2. Everyday Chinese

This course is designed for students who already have the basic knowledge of Mandarin Chinese. The goal is to enhance the students’ ability of using Chinese in daily activities. While oral communication remains emphasized, teaching time will also be allocated to vocabulary building, sentence construction, and grammatical analysis of standard usage of Chinese. Students will also learn how look up a new word in a dictionary, an essential skill for those who are willing to study more outside of the classroom.

At the completion of the course, students will be able to converse with native Chinese speakers on common subjects, read general instructions and write messages.

1.3. Advanced Chinese

While oral communication and continuous vocabulary building remain two fundamental elements of this course, teaching emphasis shifts to the recognition, understanding and application of formal and informal usage of Mandarin Chinese. This will be accompanied by grammar aspects related to these usages. Students will spend more class time on reading comprehension and assay writing.

At the completion of the course, students are able to converse with native Chinese speakers on a wide range of subjects, follow TV and radio programs on general topics, read newspaper and magazine with little comprehension difficulty, and write assays on a given subject with clarity and accuracy.

1.4. Chinese for Professionals

The program is aimed at improving students’ proficiency in Mandarin Chinese in professional communication. The program covers the jargons of a target profession, the use of these jargons, as well as the pros and cons of of using jargons in conversation.

At the completion of the course, students will be able to discuss technical details with their native Chinese-speaking counterparts with confidence and accuracy.

1.5. Chinese for Children and Family

We offer tailored program for children under 16 years of age. The program will condition the student to become familiar with the rhythm of the Chinese language, comfortable in a Chinese-speaking environment, and interested in learning the language. Oral communication is a chief learning activity of this program. Reading and writing will be gradually introduced to students. Parents are encouraged to participate in the program with their children to form a better language bond between parents and children.

Upon completion of this program, the children will be ready to move up to intermediate or advanced Chinese programs.

2. Learn Mandarin Chinese in China

2.1. Immersion Chinese Course

If there is one method that has proven effectiveness when it comes to language learning, it is the immersion learning, a method that emphasizes the importance of the language environment to language learner. Our Immersion Chinese Courses offer our students the opportunity to learn Mandarin Chinese in China, where the only language the students are exposed to is the authentic Chinese spoken by native Chinese. In addition to class hours, student will be able to practice the language in its natural way, anywhere they go, at anytime.

Students taking these immersive courses can achieve their learning objective at a fast pace.

2.2. Learn Chinese while Vacationing In China

This program is for students who not only want to quickly learn the Chinese language, but also to discover the beauty and mystery of China while being there. The is a language-oriented tour plan, supplementary to the Immersion Chinese Courses described above. Students’ time in China will be occupied by learning activities in the classroom and practice activities on the trip.

At the end of the program, students will come back home with two things that will be theirs forever: sound knowledge of the Chinese language tested in real world, and unique travel experiences to share with their loved ones.
