Learn Spanish

The Spanish language taught at the DJ Culture & Language Center is the Castilian Spanish (or Castellano in Spanish). It is the official language of Spain, set forth by the Royal Spanish Academy, and used with variations in other Spanish-speaking countries including part of the United States of America.

The Learn Spanish programs are designed for Chinese residents who want to learn Spanish as a foreign language. A student has the option of learning Spanish in China, or taking an immersive Spanish course in Spain. Under each learning scheme, there are several programs for students to choose from. 1. Learn Spanish in China

1.1. Spanish for Beginners

This course covers basic and fundamental elements of the Spanish language. Teaching emphasis is on Spanish pronunciation, basic Spanish grammar, Spanish vocabulary building, construction of simple Spanish sentences, and oral communication in Spanish on simple, everyday subjects.

At the completion of the course, students are able to have short conversations with native Spanish speakers on simple subjects, read plain text, and write short notes.

1.2. Intermediate Spanish

The Intermediate Spanish course is designed to ready the students in all basic aspects of the Spanish language: grammar, reading and writing skills, and oral communication. While oral communication and vocabulary building remain important elements, the course will introduce complex sentence structure and grammatical principles associated with sentence construction. This knowledge will be applied to reading and writing exercise.

At the completion of the course, students will have a comprehensive knowledge of Spanish grammar, and are able to conduct conversation with native Spanish speakers on common subjects, read general instructions and short newspaper articles, and write short assays.

1.3. Advanced Spanish

Teaching emphasis of the Advanced Spanish program is focused on enhanced reading comprehension and assay writing, while oral communication and continued vocabulary building remain important components of the program.

Upon the completion of the program, students will be able to have in-depth conversations with native Spaniards on topics of a wide range, follow TV and radio programs on common subjects, read newspaper and magazine articles with ease, and write clear and precise assays on given subjects.

1.4. Spanish for Kids

The program is tailored for children under 16-year-old to learn Spanish as second language. The course focuses on oral communication. Essential writing and reading skills are part of the teaching activity. Students will also learn basic Spanish grammar.

Students are prepared to achieve proficiency in oral communication at the completion of the program, and be able to read and write simple text. Upon completion of this program, the children will be ready to move up to intermediate or advanced Spanish programs.

2. Learn Spanish in Spain

2.1. Immersion Spanish Course

There is no other language learning approach that is more effective than immersing oneself in an environment where the target language is used in its natural ways by native speakers. Our Immersion Spanish Course makes this language environment available to students who choose to take this course. The program combines intensive Spanish teaching with a culture-oriented travel schedule in Spain. Outside the classroom, students will be able to apply their Spanish knowledge in real life conversation with native Spanish speakers anywhere and anytime throughout the course.

Upon the completion of the Immersive Spanish course, students will not only achieve their learning objective, but also gain valuable knowledge in Spanish society and culture.

2.2. Spanish for Professionals

The goal of this program is to help the students to advance their Spanish language skills to a professional level. Students will learn Spanish terminology used in the profession of their choice, and practice the use of these special vocabularies with native Spanish speakers. A brief introduction to common business conducts in the target profession in Spain is included in the program as supplementary.

Upon conclusion of the program, students will be able to discuss with their native Spanish-speaking counterparts about technical details in their profession with considerable fluency and accuracy.
